New features: Audio clips, Game shop, and new look for Studios

Hello, friends! We’ve been busy at work with new additions, both big and small—and now we’re excited to pull back the curtain and tell you all about the updates and improvements we’ve made.

🎙️ Audio Clips and a new look for Studios

First off, we have an exciting new feature that will help you track your progress and get more out of your time on Tonic! With Audio clips, you can record a short clip of yourself playing, label it with a piece or technique name, and further organize it by passages to make it easier to find.

You’ll notice that our Studio design is also looking a bit different. We wanted to make it feel more streamlined and clean, giving your lovely room and avatar more space to shine!

🎁 The Shop and new items

At Tonic, we want to create a fun game-like experience that motivates you to practice, as well as give you a space to call your own.

You’ve already seen the inventory…

Now, we’re thrilled to finally add a shop where you can use tokens. Tokens are found in treasure chests, which you can sometimes stumble upon after a completed studio. We hear it's quite random, so best to just be consistent about practice!

In the shop, you can buy boosts for your studio and style items to customize your avatar! We’ve also introduced separates for clothing—you’ll still be able to buy the full outfits from before, but if you want a little more control, you'll be able to choose your own top, bottom and shoes. Through this shop, we’ll be adding more cool clothing options for you to express yourself 🤗

We added streak freezes a while back but now we’re back with other items—Bouquets and XP potions! You’ll find both in the shop.

🧪 XP potions can be used inside your studio. Just tap the time indicator wheel to see the new options to take a break OR boost your studio. When you equip an XP potion, you’ll earn double the XP for the next 10 minutes.

💐 Bouquets also give Players an XP boost, but they are given away by Listeners during a Studio. As a Listener, you’ll see a new heart icon that will give you your emoji options as well as the new Bouquet option. Tap on the Bouquet to give it the Player and watch how it boosts them for 60 seconds! You can give multiple Bouquets—the XP multiplier will simply stack to the order of 1 each time.

In addition, both items make the studio do something very cool :)

💫 Other improvements

Some other fun things you might have noticed:

🔥 Streak badges: Under your profile picture, you’ll now see a little indicator if you’re currently on a streak! And we have some Tonic members with truly incredible streaks, going well over a year…

👯 Total visitor numbers on your profile: We love connection on Tonic so we wanted to let you keep track of how many people drop into your studios 🙂

🗃️ Groups organization: We added some controls for admin, and a way to favorite posts.
